Ah, we’re presented here with a mesmerizing 14-song program of musical delights by Sherri Roberts and Bliss Rodriguez, her pianist. Each song gets a detailed, elongated, rewarding untiring take. They gratifyingly bring out newfound wonders to these standards. Their mood is ideally calming. You’ll feel like floating on a relaxing cloud. Ms. Roberts handles herself majestically on the really sad “What’ll I Do”(Berlin). Her vocal conveys the feeling of the pain along with her. Bliss shines in a blistering impassioned piano solo midway. They delightfully sparkle bringing out their togetherness for the lovely “Soon It’s Gonna Rain” (Schmidt/Jones) from the 1960 off-Broadway show “The Fantastiks”. Sherri perceptively sings it to the hilt. You can actually hear “the” “Moon River” (Mancini/Mercer). This standard sounds all anew. It’s presented in a simple yet complex treatment as Sherri shows imaginative insight into this almost oversung song. “Hit The Road To Dreamland “(Arlen/Mercer) picks things up a bit. It’s such a pleasure to hear it delightfully restored and so consummately sung.
